At Cardiff Tutors, we support learners of all ages with their Functional Skills English Level 2 qualification. This includes preparing you for your exam and booking the exam itself. The Functional Skills Level 2 qualification is equivalent to a GCSE Grade C/Level 4, so if for whatever reason you did not achieve that, this qualification is great if you are looking to apply to universities, apprenticeships, and jobs. Many of our learners have not academically studied English in many years, so understanding the basics is vital. This includes learning and comprehending the fundamentals of punctuation, grammar, and spelling.
The Functional Skills English Level 2 qualification is split into three parts: the Reading exam, the Writing exam, and the Speaking and Listening (SLC) exam. You will need to demonstrate your understanding of key texts and analyse their purpose for the Reading exam. In the Writing exam, you will need to show that you can use key language features and produce creative writing pieces. The SLC differs slightly, as you will do this exam with multiple other learners. For the SLC, you will need to produce and effectively communicate a short presentation on a given topic. Additionally, you will be interacting with the other learners during a Q&A session and a discussion task. To achieve your qualification, you will need to pass all three components. Our English Level 2 Tuition focuses on ensuring that our learners’ reading and writing skills are up to exam level, by setting appropriate tasks and going through the answers in detail with you.
