At Cardiff Tutor Company, we help students in all areas of their study. Our topic of discussion for our article this week is how to find and utilise GCSE maths questions. Practice papers are a really great source but it’s important not to jump straight into them when you start your revision, they contain lots of great questions but they will be more tough if you don’t know the content. We recommend starting with topic practice questions to help you learn the content. A great place to access these is MME questions by topic.
We’ve noticed that a lot of students learn better when they have a routine to follow. A good example of this involves completing a topic and then correcting mistakes when marking, which you can do yourself with the mark scheme or ask your tutor. Any corrections or feedback should then be sorted into a review of areas or methods to further look at, which you can add to after completing each topic. This really helps to make sure you don’t waste any time revising what you’re already confident with, so you can just focus on increasing marks on the questions where you dropped them.
The next step is GCSE maths practice papers, with which you should follow the same steps. Actively learning from mistakes is the best way to make the most of the papers. These should also give you good practice for your exam so you’re more prepared on what to expect. If you have any questions feel free to contact us at Cardiff Tutor Company.
