At Cardiff Tutor Company we strive to help any student achieve academic success. We’ve started to see more and more students come to us needing a maths GCSE on a short deadline, so in this post we’re going to talk about how to get a maths GCSE quickly. The obvious option would be the standard GCSE exam but depending on the time of year this isn’t always the best.

The main thing to know with GCSE exams is that they are an entirely paper based exam and are only sat in November and May/June. Due to specific regulations all GCSE exams have to be sat at the same time for everyone in the country and can only be done in registered exam centres. The GCSE maths qualification consists of 3 separate exams papers. What this means is that if you wanted to sit these exams you would have to go to an exam centre on 3 separate days. There is no way of changing the date or time, so you would have to be fully available to attend each day. If this layout wouldn’t work for you then we would recommend functional skills maths level 2. A lot of adult learners choose to do this as you can choose a day and time to work around other commitments. It’s also a fully online exam that can be completed at home, although it is still sat under full exam conditions in order to make it a widely accepted qualification that is equivalent to a grade C at GCSE. If you have the availability to sit the GCSE exams but  it’s results you need quickly, functional skills is still a better option with results only taking a matter of days. Standard GCSE results take 2-3 months due to them being paper based. If neither of these appeal to you, there are also GCSE equivalency tests. If these are an option you will consider then it’s important to remember that they are mainly used for teacher training and so aren’t as widely accepted as the other options we’ve discussed.

How to get a maths GCSE quickly is affected by the time of year and how quick results need to be, but there are options available. Functional skills are generally quicker than the standard GCSE but it’s best to choose the option that works for you. If you need academic support, please contact us today.
