As a member of the MME group, Cardiff Tutor Company has been chosen as an approved tuition provider for the National Tutoring Programme by the DfE. However, enrollment is limited to schools, and parents cannot register their children directly. Instead, the subject teachers must start the process. MME is currently providing NTP tutoring for maths, English, and science to GCSE students, with plans to expand their services in the coming weeks and months. If you’re a parent seeking additional support for your child, fully funded through their school, we encourage you to reach out to the school directly and inquire about MME as a provider.

The upcoming section addresses some of the typical questions parents, students, and teachers may have regarding the National Tutoring Programme.

What is the National Tutoring Programme?

The National Tutoring Programme (NTP) is a governmental program that assists schools in obtaining financing for tutoring services to improve academic results. Its initial purpose was to help students catch up with their studies after the pandemic’s effects, but it has since been extended due to the realisation of tutoring’s effectiveness.

How does the NTP funding work?

For every Pupil Premium-eligible student, schools are granted £162 in funding, which can be used towards the NTP for any student. The funding is dispersed in 3 instalments each year, namely in September, December, and April. Schools are eligible to claim 60% of the tuition expenses up to a limit of £18 per hour per student.

Is the NTP tuition online or in person and is it in groups?

From individual, face-to-face tutoring to group lessons conducted online, there is a wide range of options available. Typically, one-on-one, in-person tutoring tends to cost considerably more than group lessons.

How does the dfe national tutoring programme make a difference?

The programme’s tuition has demonstrated a massive influence on student achievements, with GCSE students, in particular, reaping the benefits of the initiative.
